New Block of the Month

Hetties is pleased to offer two new block of the month programs.

ANTIQUE SAMPLER by Sue Daley Designs.

This BOM runs for 12 months.

Cost is $39 per month plus postage.

This lovely quilt measures 72" x 72" and is a combination of paper piecing and needleturn applique. The program includes pattern booklet, pre-cut papers and some templates, plus enough fabric to make the quilt top. 

 

 The new Button club from Lynette Anderson is FERNHILL - starting March 2012.

This program runs for 9 months.  The cost is $12.50 per month plus postage.  You will receive a free stitchery pattern with each month's button purchase.

 Fabric packs will be available, however cost is to be advised.

The finished quilt measures 28" x 28".

As a bonus to participating in these block of the month programs, Hetties is offering a free 2 hour workshop/demonstration on applique and hand piecing techniques with Wendy Whellum on Saturday 3rd March 2012 from 1.15pm to 3.15pm. To be eligible to attend, you must register for one of these programs by 3rd March.  Please phone the shop on 83460548 to book for the workshop as numbers are limited.

 

David Butler's New Fabric Range

I saw this quilt at quilt market in November last year and just loved it, so.............. I ordered the whole range of 24 pieces.  Quess what!!! It has arrived.

Fabric is priced at $21 per metre.

David Butler is Amy Butler's husband... what a creative team.

This is his first range of fabric called 'Curious Nature' and this pattern is a free download on the Free Spirit website. If you would like to make this quilt in his fabric, let us know and we can kit it for you and print off a pattern (at no cost).

I haven't yet worked out a cost but I will do so, soon.

Afternoon Tea

A very nice customer bought afternoon tea for us on Saturday.  I have to say, this was the most delicious fruit tart we have ever eaten.

Shaped like an apple and glazed, with a custard base, it was so nice that when I went to get the leftovers it was gone.  I think my husband inhaled it as he walked past. 

I must find out the Bakery name as I definately would like to have it again.

New Fabrics

Arrived this week.............. the full range of Kate Spain's latest fabric 'Good Fortune' by MODA.

This is a very pretty range of bright pastels which have a slightly oriental look about them.  They are priced at $22 per metre.  With them are the MODA Bella solid colours which match.  Very pretty!!

 

 

 

Also, arriving at the same time is Redwork Renaissance by MODA.  This is a range of 18 fabrics - all in red, white and some cream.

A perfect selection for a red and white quilt.

Priced at $22 per metre.

 

 

She Sews Sundays

On the last Sunday of the month, Hettie's holds a 'sit and sew' get together.  Generally, everyone just brings an unfinished project and spends the day chatting and sewing. There is no regular teacher present however advice is always available. Cost is $10 for the day.

Due to numerous requests, we have included a section of 'make and takes' i.e. a small project is taught (by me) and hopefully completed in the same day.

Now..............for the same fee ($10) you can choose to just come and sew your own thing or participate in the make and take. 

This month we are making a patched lavender heart. The kit for this heart is $14.95 (includes everything you need, just bring your sewing machine, threads etc).  As numbers are limited, if you would like to join us either to 'sit and sew' or 'make and take' please making a booking by phoning the shop on 83460548.

New class on Fridays

This is just one example of Claire McBride's work.

Claire will be teaching classes at Hettie's on Friday mornings 9.30am - 12.30pm. Cost $20. Starting 10th February 2012.

Claire is willing to teach whatever sewing project makes you happy.  She can embroider, make cushions, quilts, dolls, bags etc, etc.

She has been teaching for years. In fact I made my first embroidery project with her, so many years ago I can't remember.

Claire is making more samples for the shop, so next time you are in, have a look at them.

 

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

We had to be quick to take these photos, however, Bob and the staff at Hettie's wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year.

Hettie's is closed over Christmas for the public holidays only, so............we will re-open on Wednesday 28th December at 10.00am. 

We will be closed on Monday 2nd January 2012. 

After that we are back to normal (whatever that is!!)

Just a selection.....from Michelle Hill's Morris Meadows

This photo shows just a small selection from Michelle Hill's new range of fabrics - Morris Meadows from In The Beginning fabrics.

Priced at $18 a metre, we have the full range in store now.  There are three colorways - basically pink, blue and green and a border fabric in each colour.

Granny Smith's Pin Cushion Kit and/or Pattern

This 7.5" square pin cushion is ideal for the busy sewer.  It has easy to grab tabs on the side.

It is made using apple core papers for the top.

The kits are available in two colourways and are priced at $24.95. Pattern only is $9.

Kits include apple core papers, 20 x 5" fabric squares, linen for background and backing, parlan (stabiliser) and pattern.

The one pictured is using Rouenneries Deux (Jelly Rolls, Layer cakes and Charm packs are available now - yardage is available in January).  The other sample uses Park Avenue (blue, red and beige).  It would make a fabulous Christmas gift, either made up or in kit form.  I really enjoyed making this with its combination  of hand and machine sewing.

 

Garden Trellis Quilt

This gorgeous quilt was designed by Lauren & Jessie Jung and is called Garden Trellis.  They have used their own fabric range by Moda called 'Flora'.  It is made from one layer cake plus border fabric.

I have made up this quilt as a sample and it is displayed in the shop with a different border fabric.

I have one kit left using the border fabric in the photo and more kits using a different border (see my online shop for a picture).

The kit cost including the border, sashing and binding is $97

Layer cakes only are $43.00

 

'Lark', by Amy Butler

This new range is rich , vibrant, and slightly eccentric.

There are two different palettes, 'Glamour' has the turquoise, yellows, and a touch of manderin. 'Dreamer' has the blues, and persimmon colours.

Whether it is quilting, clothing, or handbags, if you like Amy Butler and her patterns, you'll love this range.

The whole range arrived in the shop on Friday, and the fabric is $23.00 per metre.
